Analysis of a Relevant News Package - (Are Our Phones Listening To Us?)
Are Our Phones Listening To Us?
What Is It About: "Are Our Phones Listening To Us?" is a news package report video by the BBC News and was released back on the 9th of September and in 2019. The video report is about an investigation, from a conspiracy theory about phones listening to our conversations and privacy, and from specific individuals having the concern from the interference of not having any privacy at all. To be more specific from who is listening and interfering, the situation focuses on massive high tech companies such as social media apps and sites, such as Facebook and Google. The theory occurs, back in 2018 when the CEO of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg, attended court about Facebook interfering with the private information of Facebook users and accounts.
Who Is It About: Researchers from a tech company called 'Wandera', does an inquiry on the conspiracy theories of phones interfering with our private and social media life. The story is reported by reporter Joe Tidy from the BBC News and who interviews qualified and professional individuals who are working on the investigation. They problem-solve, by using an iPhone and Samsung mobile phone to work on a technical element by digging into the phones, checking and seeing if there is evidence from these concerns and theories. When they conclude the investigation, they do not find any evidence about the social media sites interfering with their private conversations and other privacy aspects.
Which Demographic Group Is It Aimed At: I believe, the video is aimed at all ages and especially for anyone who owns a phone with specific and popular social media sites. These concerns can have an effect on everyone and how the different group demographic groups would react and how they would respond to the problem. Any individual who is a child or a senior citizen, may not be aware or understand that much from the situation. A child, may not understand how to react or respond and it may leave the decision from the parents of seeking the safest advice, or even a child shouldn't be given a phone or any other communication device, and for the elderly, they possibly wouldn't at all be aware of this type of issue, also, they may not know how to problem-solve and who to seek advice from. My point is, a child and a member of the elderly, would respond on a difficult and different level of awareness and knowledge of this very technical subject, and how these technical problems could happen to them.
How Is It Relevant To My News Package: I find this news report relevant, because of the theme of technology and the concerns society can have with multi-million-dollar tech companies. I am fully aware it doesn't include the theme of the environment, however, this is another example from the theme of technology, of the issues we still have problems with to this day, and it can be another relevant story on the problems of technology from different concerns, opinions, and even facts. To show an example of relevance is the camera work from this news report and these shots have given me some ideas and inspiration for how I would capture my news package story and showing an appropriate amount of detail on my theme of phones and technology. The third picture below is a simple explanation of four phones, that the professional tech experts are going to analyze and solve the theory of the phone's specific social media apps listening to the owner's private information. The third picture also has given me some inspiration and thought for when post-production comes around of using those similar examples to show from our news package when discussing a more creative and interesting point from my theme of phones.
