Camera Workshop - Practise on a Chosen Scene (Prisoners) (DIRECTIONS UNIT)
Opening: Continuing on more workshops with using the lighting equipment, we were given the opportunity to re create one of our chosen scenes. I wanted to try and recapture one of the scenes of my chosen film when one of the main characters officially starts to investigate the abduction case, and i tried to make sure to use different techinques then the original scene from the film.
What Went Well : I first of all think two of the individuals presented good effort as the characters, i made sure i explained to them in detail and honesty what this scene was about, the characters emotions, feelings and how their body language should be presented as well. Trying to not just copy the chosen scene from the script and i think the practise process was quite a success, from the performers, cinematography and the chosen the lighting. I made sure to achieve some coverage and not just film only from one shot.
Even Better If : To improve on the practise for future preferences, i think we could of taken more time on the lighting aspect and i still am trying to have that little confidence and trust with the lighting equipment, however using the LED lights was still a better choice. We could of moved to a different part of the studio space to have a different type of background, compared to having the same background from the previous, practise film shoot. When it came to editing the video, i noticed sometimes the performers body's position was somehow placed differently from a different shot, which i found quite unnoticeable when we were filming. I shall try and look out for that element in filming for when actual production day comes about.
Conclusion: The practise shoot was a very helpful exercise, for the very first time having the opportunity to film one of my chosen scenes from my chosen film. Still trying to have that trust and confidence in terms of the lighting. Thinking and problem solving how to film a chosen scene differently, using some coverage, practicing more on the lighting equipment and most of all having the role as a director.
