Plot: The Five is based on a book by Harlan Coben. The storyline is about a boy named Jesse who goes missing at the age of five and setting twenty five years later, Jesse's DNA shows up at a crime scene. Mark (Tom Cullen) is the older brother to Jesse, himself and his three friends were the last people to see Jesse. All four of them now need to confront the past.

Opinion of the TV show- I watched The Five two years ago and found the concept very emotional, sometimes intense and of course very realistic. The characters present themselves as real people and I could understand the problems they were going through. It's a concept about guilt, from the majority of it's plot presentation and having real, respected and trusted people in these characters lives. All of the characters are used very useful and all have a purpose through the plot. The concept does sometimes have more then one plot happening and can change the tone of the concept. For example it sometimes becomes a thriller when other villainous characters appear in the series and I personally found that a weak aspect for the concepts tone and storyline.

How It influences my work: In terms of the screenwriting it's starts all of the simple aspects from the writing of the plot. For example a very simple and realistic concept, real and understandable characters. Going into simple and detail information about the four main characters, for example their daily lives, their occupations and their personalties/ emotions. For other aspects to influence for my work, The Five supports the tone of my short film and has similar subject matters which is the emotion of "guilt". The main character of The Five goes through a constant emotion of guilt from the meaning of his younger brother (Jesse) going missing.
