Brainstorming and Research - (DOCUMENTARY UNIT)

Beginning The Documentary Unit

Opening Statement
Being put into a group with four other individuals, we have decided to create a documentary based on the issue in "Knife Crime". Through the first two days, we have been working together on brainstorming, coming up with ideas and as an example researching into a few short documentaries that are related to our idea.

What Went Well
I have felt for the past two days working together as a group, has been very productive and showing a lot of enthusiasm to our chosen idea based on knife crime. Being given each individual tasks of researching a different element based on our concept, i researched into three short documentaries on the issue with knife crime and i advised my team members to watch and take notes on the three documentaries. To support them of giving an more of a idea and feel to how we can create our own tone, for when we start filming our documentary when the day comes.

Even Better If
To improve for future developments, i believe we could of had an group update meeting, about what we have found and mainly discuss why have found the piece of research and how it can develop for our documentary. Even though we did sent our research over to each other, i just felt we could of had a more of an in depth discussion about the reasons "why" and instead of the "what" reasons we have found.

Conclusion
On a personal note, i was at first not feeling comfortable and confident being with my chosen group before earlier. However, thinking to try and experience of how we can develop the journey for our project, i have felt an overall positive start for our documentary. By showing our passionate, motivated on our issue we would like to capture on camera and execute it's final outcome as a positive and relevant concept for BBC Three audiences.
