Opening Statement:
Having a positive first start of our pre - production progress, we decided as a group to work on our script and looking very different compared to an fictional script for a film, this was a different experience of creating a documentary film, for the very first time.
What Went Well
While typing up the three main areas of the script, we were discussing about how we are going to present the presentation of the documentary. For example when coming up with the visuals, we want to use a lot of establishments of Maidstone and Chatham to present our focused locations of the shoots, by using a Drone for our opening titles and most importantly, to film the locations of where the incidents took place. We were also discussing about using narration for the documentary, by only adding into the script of using myself or using another individual with a much more clearer voice and for when we are presenting about the chosen knife crime incidents and by not having a narration when asking questions to our chosen interviewees. We'd all made sure, that we had our own opinion and participants to include in on the script and i felt after it was completed, we were really ready to move on into the pre - production process.
Even Better If
Feeling satisfied with the areas of the narration and visuals, i think we could of improved more on the sound box on the script. By using more then one similar music choice, plus by using sound effects for example, public background noises and when we go out on location for filming, we would be making sure to film a buzz track to capture more then one background sounds. I believe this improvement, would of given the script a more of an opportunity to try and use different music choices and to present the documentary would of have had more then one tone feel.
Conclusion
As i mentioned from the opening statement, creating this script has really made a great starting point and a breakthrough. It's been a thoughtful task from each of us to contribute of adding in ideas, how we are going to begin the presentation, where we are going to film, who we are hoping to film and what our message will be about in the topic of knife crime. Our next objectives now, is to try and find an individual and who shall be a witness, a policeman and to conclude on an individual from an activist group.
