Steve Finn - Masterclass Workshop (DIRECTIONS UNIT)
STEVE FINN - MASTERCLASS WORKSHOP
Having the opportunity to attend a masterclass by a director named Steve Finn (Eastenders & Coronation Street), been given some scripts from Steve to try and re create the plot lines from the scripts, from a directors point of view.
What Went Well
By reading the script "Felixborugh" i felt that i understood the story, the scenario, the two main characters, and how i would re create my own version from my own directions perspective. I filmed in a continuous shot, instead of filming more then one shot, and i wanted to use that style to really make the plot from the two performers feel the intense, serious and attention about this case. Entering the shot of a close up of one of the individuals, going into a continuous, medium circle, and finally concluding on the second individuals side from the camera. Making the shot look and feel motivated from the characters emotions, and also making the shot look fair for both of the two performers having this type of useful appearance and importance for the audiences to witness their motivations from the issue of the case.
Even Better If
I think by still filming in a continuous shot, i think i could of also had one, or both of the performers wonder around the room space they are in. That could of made another energetic atmosphere, more motivational reasons from the two individuals trying to solve the issue they are both in. To improve from what i directed and filmed, i could of directed my DOP (director of photography) to be a bit closer to the two performers. Trying to make the plot line feel more justified, intense, and once again more of a motivational reason from the two main characters.
