iPhone 12 Pro (No Charger in the Box? Everything You Need To Know About Charging the iPhone 12)

The iPhone 12 Pro, is the brand new edition from the tech company Apple and with another edition called the iPhone 12, 12 pro & 12 Max. The new edition was released back on Friday, October 23rd, 2020. The phone's features include having a 5G network, improving on the photography side from its camera, also the camera has a night mode for its new edition and many more other new features. Unfortunately, the phone doesn't include a charger, and for individuals who will buy the new edition, they would need to buy their own charger instead. Plus, this is the first iPhone to ship without EarPods (Gaines, T. 2020), and which is another technical tool that individuals will need to buy their own. From the article, Terrance Gaines mentions that 'excluding the power adapter reduces the size of the box'. Plus Gaines mentions, 'smaller boxes allow Apple to reduce yearly carbon emissions by 2 million metric tons'. When you have bought the phone, you're still provided with the Lightning charge port and it explains that the Lightning wire and USB - A power adapter to let your phone be charged. Another way is that you can charge your phone by connecting the cable to your MacLaptop. Terrance Gaines's article mentions why Apple has made this decision, what its main priority is and will be for future iPhones to be released in the coming years, Apple's main focus for charging the iPhone 12 (and likely future phones) is the new, built-in, fast charging MagSafe magnetic power connector. (Gaines, T. 2020). You can also buy a magnetic wallet, which will help attach your wallet to the phone as well.

The Charger -Less iPhone Isn't As Eco -Friendly As Apple Wants You To Think

I have found another article about an individual named C. Scott Brown, who explains his opinion on why the new iPhone is not going to be friendly for the environment. From the article, Brown mentions a comment/ quote from an environmentalist named Lisa Jackson, and to quote from based on the article Jackson mentions, "reduce carbon emissions and avoids the mining and use of precious materials" (Jackson, L. 2020) From that comment by Jackson, she is mentioning the new editions of not having the charger and EarPods. It's her perspective about how the company would be able to add more product, profit, and having to reduce the impact on the environment. Obviously, the new iPhone charger does exist, however, for individuals who live in the United States, they will have to pay $19 for the charger and even the EarPods from the same price as well, of the iPhone 12 by itself. To continue on this aspect of the new iPhone, Brown mentions that the wire that will be included with the new phone is known as a Lightning - to USB - C, and in other words, it's basically the exact same cable that recent iPhone's have had before. Apparently though, from anyone who owns an iPhone 11 or the other two upgrades (pro & pro max), they, unfortunately, won't be able to use the cable from the box. However though, "you guessed it, you buy a USB - C charger" (C, S. Brown 2020). Brown also discusses another element for the iPhone 12, and Magsafe to pay extra and individually on the MagSafe system, another option to have as a charger. However, though, the price MagSafe is to pay $39. C. Scott Brown believes, that the tech company should provide the charger, EarPods, and MagSafe all for 'free via an aftermarket system'. To explain in more detail, Brown's concept would be to arrive at an Apple store with already purchased and paid for the iPhone 12, and to be given, a free charger, and a set of EarPods. Brown's point of view on this alternative route to, "it would eliminate the implication that Apple stands to financially prosper from this decision". (C, S. Brown 2020). In Brown's conclusion from his perspective, he believes that the concept from Apple has done a sensible choice of removing the 'inbox charger'. "Apple is right in saying that not producing more chargers than necessary is better than the environment" (C, S. Brown 2020).
