Test Shoots - (DOCUMENTARY UNIT)
Test Shoots
Introduction
As production week is very near now, i thought during the last week of the Easter break would be an appropriate opportunity to experiment on some test shoots. This exercise, is a supportive task to give me confidence and showing experiments of testing my own personal filming equipment to make sure that the equipment is prepared for production week ahead. It has also been helpful, to know, show and improve on what shots i am going to try and achieve.
What Went Well
I have felt, by doing this task for the first time has indeed been helpful and important for my own independence when the production process comes to present. I was very proud of using myself being in front of the camera and pretending to be my own chosen siblings, individuals for when their introductions enters into the presentation of the final outcome, of the documentary. With all of the shots having the perspectives from using my tripod, the shots looked very professional for the right and chosen rooms in the household and appropriate for our chosen tone of the documentary. I have felt, that the production process will now be possible to film from myself and with the amount of personal filming equipment i own. I didn't feel i had rushed the activity, i made sure their was a good use of continuity and coverage.
Even Better If
When i was working on this task, i didn't use any of my ring lights that i own and especially for one of the chosen rooms in the household that i believe shall be needed for when production week comes to present. The final shot from the test shoot video, was quite out of focused and in my opinion, i believe i shall be using more then one lenses. In this test shoot exercise, i only used one lens and now i need to make sure to have more then one lens on me. As i mentioned i used myself as a reconstructive experiment, i possibly could of actually used one of my siblings to participate in front of the camera. Even though, they shall be seen in the documentary and honestly this could of given them the benefit and opportunity to practise for themselves and before their actual time in front of the camera happens.
Conclusion
In conclusion, for the first time doing test shoots has been very helpful before i begin my journey into the production shoot of the documentary. I have used shots, that i feel satisfied to film again and other shots that didn't feel satisfied to me as i didn't expect before doing this activity. It has giving me notice for future test shoots, that i shall use more then one lens and also using my ring lights for certain rooms at a chosen location. By also making sure, to have the opportunity to use another individual for my next test shoot and instead of not using myself all of the time. I believe now, that my own production shoot of the documentary can be ready for filming.
